PALANGA AND THE AMBER MUSEUM

PALANGA AND THE AMBER MUSEUM

Port: Klaipeda
Duration: 6 hours
Information:
This is an air-conditioned bus/car and walking tour, but there is not much walking involved so the tour is suitable for people with limited mobility.
The tour may be led by German, English, Russian, Spanish speaking guides.

Program:
This excursion combines a tour of the sites of Klaipeda Old Town along with a visit to Palanga, the most popular seaside resort in Lithuania and home to the impressive The Botanical Garden and the renowned Palace of Amber Museum. 80% of the world’s amber is located in the Baltic, and we’re sure you’ll be fascinated by the exhibits and accompanying information about different types of amber, how they’re formed, and the many uses of amber, in addition to jewellery. You’ll go on a highly enjoyable walk along Basanavičius street leading up to the Palanga Sea Bridge. Most of Palanga’s cafes, restaurants and entertainment are to be found on Basanavičius street. You’ll also visit the Neo-Gothic red brick Assumption of Virgin Mary Church which houses the only picture in Lithuania with illustrated crying Mother of God. Later you’ll have some free time in Palanga. Maybe you’ll be lucky and find a piece of amber when walking along Palanga’s white sandy beach. Return back to Klaipeda.

The tour includes:
